simple sight-reading in all keys resources
on: March 24, 2012, 09:57:53 PM
Hi,
I'm more of a low brass teacher and teach elementary piano. For my own practice--I was
wondering if any piano teachers know of any online resources to print out sight-reading material in all keys. or any books that have simple sight reading tunes in B-natural/Cb Major---Gb major ----some of the more difficult keys but very simple two handed material.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,

If you wish to improve your sight-reading and you have an ipad then I thoroughly recommend Wessar International’s SightRead4Piano app for the iPad. There was an article about it in this month’s International Piano.
I recently downloaded it and I have to say that I find it to be absolutely brilliant. I tried it out with most of my students, and they were all amazed. The most common adjective they used to describe it was awesome! And they found it fun!
I have been teaching the piano for nearly thirty years now and I have never experienced anything as beneficial as this application for improving my students' sight-reading. It has had an immediate impact.

I'll keep the app in mind for the future, but for now I don't have an ipad.--any books?---I've used the 4-star sight reading books by Boris Berlin and find them excellent. But I really would like something that deals with the more difficult keys but easy on the right-left coordination.

A Dozen A Day - Play With Ease In Many Keys By Edna Mae Burnam.
This are short (1 page), very easy pieces in all the keys.
This is the simplest two handed material in the keys your requesting I know of.
Hope this is what your looking for, Joe.
