Sonata in B Minor - Franz Liszt
on: April 06, 2012, 01:04:21 PM
Please give me your thoughts on this effort at Sonata in B Minor by Franz Liszt:

You can buy on iTunes if you like - all money goes to charity www.f4ci.co.uk.

The following is a composition of mine. I'd welcome your thoughts, especially on whether you think people would like it.

Welcome to pianostreet! Just my two cents here...You certainly do have the potential to master this great sonata with more time and energy and work. There is already an image emerging of your peculiar vision. But, but, but...you're still reading right now, and there are parts of you cannot yet play. There is no way you should be selling this at the moment. It's not ready - I've worked on this sonata through the course of 17 or 18 years, and I wouldn't even think of selling any of my recordings! (There may be something I'm missing about itunes.)

This too was not what I was expecting! If you have the ability to sightread through the Liszt Sonata, why could you not have played for us your piece rather than share a midi recording? As for the piece, it is catchy!

I hope you enjoy this forum.

Yeah, I suppose, I guess I thought the same. It needs improvement. I thought I might just try selling it on itunes and see what happens - I had a free coupon offer to add it on. There are mistakes and lapses, and Im sure the way it comes over isn't great, but if you like my composition maybe I can practice it. I've never really used my memory much, I've always just taught myself to sightread hence Im hesitant to memorize, but maybe I will have to.
There is also a improvisation I put under the improvisations section if anyones interested.

Thanks for feedback
