Best Yamaha Keyboard for around 200$?
on: April 20, 2012, 05:40:18 AM
Hi! thanks for taking the time to read this.

I'm new to the piano but I know how to read music sheets as I play the violin. I have a lot of free time at home and wanted to put it in good used. I plan to self-teach myself unless I really love it and will try to get a lesson from a teacher.

I don't plan to play any classic song or anything that complicated, just song I listen to like Paramore or Taylor Swift X)

I prefer if its Amazon, but if its in a local store, I could do that too, I live in Las Vegas.

Again, thanks! I'm new to this forum and hope you guys could help me out.

****Sorry, I think im going with the Yamaha Ypg235*****

Never used this model, but these very low price Yamahas when new give so much for so little. One of the few digital instruments I would recommend getting as new. I would normally say buy a used weighted digital and use MIDI through a PC if the sound is poor. $200 gives you so little to loose on resale though. Newer electronics, can run on batteries, it is also light, but not weighted keys (Weighted are much better, but they hinder transportation and massively increase cost).

Try and borrow an acoustic when ever you get the chance. No digital will come close to a nice grand. There must be lots of nice grand pianos in Las Vegas sitting idle

for that kinda budget you'd be better off with a casio or something, really. There is no margin for paying for label. (and FYI I don't put casio down here because they make very good affordable keyboard)
