I wish Berezovsky would record La CampanellaI wish Hamelin would record Alkan's Le PreuxI wish Yuja Wang would record Prokofiev's ToccataI only get three wishes right?
I want to hear Valentina Lisitsa play Brahms Variations on a theme by Paganini, and Stravinsky's Trois Mouvements de Petrouchka.
I wish Lang Lang played the Liszt B Minor Sonata. He's not close to being one of my favourite pianists, but i'd like to see how he'd do.
But he already played that at Liszt 200'th anniversary
I was about to post the exact same thing except you took the words out of my fingers.Did you know that Valentina recorded part of Prokofievs second for a rock band?
If Glenn Gould had recorded Alkan's Grande Sonate Op.33 or Le Festin D'Esope, that would undoubtedly be the greatest piano recording in history.
It would undoubtedly be the slowest recording in history too.
It would be really interesting to hear the young Richter or Lhevinne perform Godowsky´s transcriptions of the Chopin Etudes. Horowitz, the young Hofmann or Rachmaninov playing Alkan in particular Grande Sonate 'Les Quatre Ages' - 30 Ans 1/2 Rachmaninov playing Beethoven´s sonatas in particular Pathetique and Hammerklavier.Of the recordings that might happen I would say Volodos playing Beethoven sonatas in particular no.8,17,29 and 30I would love to hear Argerich play these sonatas as well but that will propably never happen, it´s almost as unlikely that Ivo Pogorelich would play them and do a good job these days but in the early nineties he would have played them great I am pretty sure about that.
I agree with all of these. It would have also been amazing to hear the great Cziffra play the Godowsky/Chopin etudes as well. Best recording ever.
Rachmaninoff playing all of his works with BETTER QUALITY.
And a lot of other works such as the Liszt sonata. A pity Argerich hasn't/won't play the Paganini Rhapsody. It would seem ideal for her. I think it's a better piece than the 3rd concerto, though few will agree.
Has Martha performed all of her repertoire in public?
Hardly. The 1st Mephisto Waltz is reportedly quite a party piece for her, and she has been heard 'warming up' with the Schumann Toccata. But neither piece has appeared on a recital within recent memory.
She has recorded the Schumann Toccata and it was technically brilliant but you can tell that she wasn´t a mature pianist when she recorded it.
Was not aware that she had recorded it.

But neither piece has appeared on a recital within recent memory. As for the Rachmaninov, no doubt she has read through the piece, but there is no indication she ever formally learned it... as far as I know.
He did? I didn't hear about that...Proof?
Also, I heard Richter played Gaspard de la nuit but I didn't find the recording or video.
Lang Lang play Gaspard de la Nuit[.]Oh my god that would be so good!
Sviatoslav Richter - "Le Gibet" from "Gaspard de la Nuit" Moscow, 1954, live. There may be more coming up on www_sviatoslavrichter_ru, but the "video" part of that site is under repair.Paul
