To all the people who play by ear
on: April 24, 2012, 10:36:53 AM
Hi piano players. I really like this song. It has a great and catchy piano part in it that starts on 0:22. Can someone please help me figure out how to play it?

Though the bass and the drums drown out most everything else, here's an opinion on how to get a first approximation to this music on the piano. In the left hand, start on the G below middle C. Then go to the D next to middle C. Then the G above middle C. Then back to the D. Play these four notes over and over again. This is the first part of the bass. The second part: start on the B-flat below middle C. Go to the D next to middle C. Go to the F above middle C. Then back down to the D. Play these four notes over and over again. Play the first part of the bass four times, then do the second part four times. This is thirty-two notes in all. Regard them as sixteenth notes, to be played at about 448 per minute. The right hand part would be synchronized with the left as follows:
When the left
hand is doing the ... 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th 7th 8th 9th 10th 11th 12th 13th 14th 15th 16th
sixteenth note...
the right hand plays ... Bb Bb A Bb C F
The right hand starts at the Bb above middle C, goes down to A, up to Bb again, up to C, and up to F. When the left hand is doing the 17th through 32nd sixteenth notes, the right hand does what it did sixteen notes before. For variation, you might do:
When the left
hand is doing the ... 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th 7th 8th 9th 10th 11th 12th 13th 14th 15th 16th
sixteenth note ...
the right hand plays ... Bb A Bb A Bb A Bb A Bb C F
