Anyone use other web browsers?
on: April 24, 2012, 10:41:11 PM
I was looking for some other browers.

IE
FF
Chrome
Opera
Safari
Seamonkey

And then I found some other ones I hadn't heard of.

Any opinions on those or the lesser known browsers?

I use Chrome. It has a clean and simple interface, which I love. n_n I tried FireFox for a while, but something about it turned me off. IE... don't even have to comment on that one. Safari is better than IE but not by much imo. It certainly has some better features and doesn't crash every time you use it u_u As for Opera, I used to use it before I discovered Chrome, and that was a while ago D: It all depends on personal preferences really, except for IE. Which no one should be forced to use. Ever  ::)

Before we had Firefox and Chrome, I was a heavy IE user.  Looking back, I can't say that I ever liked that browser, just that it was the one that got the job done.

Firefox was a breath of fresh air, and I've been using it since v1.0.  It allows me to set it up in a manner that works for me.  There are also some wonderful addons available, such as Adblock plus which allows you to have an ad free browsing experience.
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

I use IE 8 almost all the time.  Since I go to a wide variety of web sites, I need something which is stable (IE 8 is, having gotten rid of most of the glitches in previous versions) and which is universally compatible.  I have, and sometimes use, Firefox; it's a very good browser.

I have looked at Chrome.  It is also a very good browser -- with one important problem: it's put out by Google, and it may or may not track everything you do and put it into Google's cloud, but I'm not about to risk it.  I'm not particularly paranoid, nor do I go to sites I wouldn't care to have other people know about, but I do not care for organisations -- government or private -- which have a track record of snooping on everything I do.  (I won't use Google's search engine or maps, either, for exactly the same reason).

You can turn any page into a shooting game. You can get it at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/destroy-the-web/. It's okay for people who have nothing to do (like me ;D).

IE sucks. It's non standard and unsecure. I don't write my passwords there!

The best: Mozilla Firefox. It's open source, secure, customizable, fast. With great extensions, as readability, adblock, word reference, etc.

Chromium, the open source version of Chrome it's also good. I'm using it right now. With extensions also.

I use Safari, with the iPad. It's worse than Firefox and Chromium. It's not so customizable.

IMHO, for any advanced user the best one is Firefox.
