Mozart, Variations C-major (Twinkle, Twinkle)
Schubert, Sonata G-major (D.894)
Chopin, Etudes 10/7; 10/8; 25/6
Liszt, Benediction dans la Solitude

I love them all, though finding a decent fingering for the first couple of pages of the Liszt gave me multiple headaches.

Now I'm working on:

Chopin: Ballade in G minor (polishing for competition in mid April)
Bach: Prelude and fugue in G minor from Book one
Handel: Suite no.5
Beethoven: Sonata op.13  :)

I'm just finishing these up. After these I'm going to learn my first concerto. I'm still deciding which one. I also get to learn a Bach suite after this prelude and fugue :)

Splitting time between five Chopin works:

1) Nocturne in B-flat minor (Op 9 No 1)
2) Mazurka in C-sharp minor (Op 6 No 2)
3) Mazurka in B-minor (Op 30 No 2)
4) Waltz in C-sharp minor (Op 64 No 2)
5) Etude in C (Op 10 No 1)

I can play all of (1), nearly all of (2), about half of (3), 10% of (4), and virtually none of (5).

I'm practicing the etude mainly to work on my right-hand arpeggios.  I don't really anticipate I'll ever be able to play the whole thing at speed.  The others are definitely works I intend to master.

I have finished preparing my annual house/salon recital, which I will perform five times, in late March (Florida) and early April (Washington DC).

Liszt - Etude de concert (Sospiro)
           Sonetto del Petrarca no 104
Rachmaninoff -
           Two Preludes - c# and g# minor
           Elegie
           Polichinelle
Scriabin - Nocturne for the left hand
Khachaturian - Toccata
Chopin -
          Waltz op 69/1
           Mazurka op 24/1
           Polonaise in A flat
Then I can start working on something new! I really feel a need to do some Haydn, Mozart and Schubert.

Hi!!

I started taking piano lessons 6 months ago.. & I played Khachaturian - Toccata!!! I'm gonna performe it in th annual fistival of the fine Arts institute were I study.. I'm 15 years old.. an american piano teacher came here 1 month ago.. & came to visit the institute, and I played chopin's nocturne op.72 no.1 & The Toccata for him.. and he asked me: how long have you been playing piano?? I said 6 months . & before that. I touched the piano for only 4 or 5 times in my life.. and he was like kind of shucked!!!
the good news is: American org (American voices I guess). will bring music & theater teachers from america, were th good studints will take lessons for 10 days. Hey, I'm going to the lessons too!!!! is that good or what?? oh.. I also finished 27 Hanons!!!

Bach Invention No 9

This post made me smile. Somehow seems more reasonable than all the other posts in this topic.

Anyway, I'm working on Beethoven op. 2 no. 1, 1st and 2nd movement, and Bachs 3-part invention in E major. Perhaps I'll start some Prokofiev today.

Hello,

I'm a newbie to piano playing and enjoying it very much. Currently I'm learning Aura Lee (the melody was made into the song "Love Me Tender" sung by Elvis Presley) and several over songs. So far I have taken one lesson and my piano teacher said I did amazing.

I play the piano since one year (and I dare to say that some progresses are in sight) ;)

At the moment I practice:

Ludwig van Beethoven, Piano Sonata in f minor, first movement (Op. 2 No. 1)
Franz Schubert, Impromptu in g flat major (Op. 90 No. 3)
and a bit Frederic Chopin Mazurka Op. 6 No. 1...

Before I began these pieces I played Beethovens Bagatelles Op. 126 No. 1 and 2

Thank you for your wishes. But here I have to express huge thanks to my teacher, who is extremely patient with me ignoring his well meant tips and his politely told technique-improvements. I can't understand how he is able to stay such calm with me nervous and anconcentrated student...

However... I have still practices to do for today!

Greetings to all pianists and their pianos  ;)

Chopin - Nocturne in E minor, Op. 72, No.1 (posthumous)
Mozart - Rondo in F, K 494

Polishing:
Grutzmacher - Albumblatt
Poulenc - Novelette in E minor (III)

I'm not too sure what I should tackle next (just out of interest), any ideas?

Bach p+f in G minor
Chop/Liszt Maiden's wish
Rimsky/Rach Flight of the bumblebee
Chop sixths etude
Scriabin op.8 no.4 etude
again, all ranging from bad to worse...

What am I learning? Coping with pain.

What am I playing? No pieces. Single notes (scales), thirds, sixths, octaves, chords in one and a half hands.
