Kabalevsky Pieces?
on: April 25, 2012, 09:33:19 AM
My piano teacher is nuts about copyright, so I'm looking for ways to get my pieces legally. I can get most, except I found that there is NO Kabalevsky pieces, which really annoys me as he is one of my favourite composers. Does anyone know if this sight does requests or how often it & adds more music sheets?

nuts, concerned with legality, wanting to reward talent, etc. different jargon same deal, i think you have a great teacher in that they seem to be trying to instill in you the importance of doing what is right regarding how you acquire music (i.e. people's livelihoods depend on this stuff).
kabalevky is one of my favorites as well, alas his music can be frustratingly difficult to obtain at times , you'll most likely have to employ multiple sources, i.e buy it from whoever might have it, depending on the work. be warned some pieces will be all but impossible to find/obtain outside of asia/russia, case in point in the piano concerto no 1, i have been trying to find a copy for sale for close to two years....
also consider buying used vintage copies, many sometimes turn up on ebay, amazon, etc., check here first and if ps doesn't offer try sheetmusicplus, or other online specialty shops or speak in person with a local shop that can try to special order for you.
