New guy needs guidance
on: April 27, 2012, 04:21:33 PM
Hello everyone, ive been looking to become a musician and needed some guidance as to where to begin with piano lessons. My goal is to master chords and chord progressions and generally learn to play piano so that i can incorporate that knowledge with my synthesizer skills and make creative pieces of music so i can record my vocals on my own work. I don't really require being able to flawlessly perform a piece of sheet music, although it would be nice, but i do need in depth understanding of how a progression works and what makes melodies sound nice and that kind of stuff. Im 19, no job no children no money for school no nothing only energy, determination, my laptop and a midi controller so you can imagine all the free time on my hands.
Is there any essential reads out there i should look into? Where do I begin learning piano? And what songs do you suggest i try to play to get me warmed up to the piano playing feel?
Thanks
