Simple right hand for Save the Last Dance for Me
on: April 28, 2012, 01:53:05 AM
Hi,
I just found this board. I hope this is the right place for this question.
I happened to see a performance by stand up comic Jonathan Katz in which he sings
Save the Last Dance for Me
accompanying himself on guitar. The accompaniment consists of the single 1-3-5 notes of the three major chords used in the song played with a slight synchopation. In the key of G, the accompaniment for most of the first phrase is G-B-D G-B-D ... When the chord changes to D7, the accompaniment is D-F#-A D-F#-A ...
I tried to find a clip somewhere on the Internet, but was not successful.
Anyway, this simple accompaniment works amazingly well, especially for guitar. I've fiddled around on it some on the piano trying to come up with some simple right hand to go with it and nothing sounds right. Could someone suggest a simple right hand to go with this simple left hand?
Thanks
