looking to buy good stage piano around $2000
on: April 28, 2012, 03:20:48 PM
Does anybody have any recommendations on a good stage piano?  I'm looking to spend around 2000 dollars and have a few needs:

1. weighted keys like a real piano.  authentic feel not that sticky feel that some weighted keyboards have.
2. great sounds especially in organs and pianos.
3. ability to load samples and manipulate sounds.

i'm kind of straddling two worlds here.  one where a more traditional piano/organ keyboard use is needed (good weighted keys where i can put good feeling into (i'm classically trained)) and then the other world of electronic sound to be used in a more rock, experimental setting.  I'm looking for a good keyboard that can satisfy both these needs.  Thanks!!!

you're mixing things - no stage piano can manipulate/load samples etc.
Get a synth like kronos or motif XS, or fantom G with weighted keys.

Oh thanks for the clarification.   I guess I was a little confused about that.  I just started looking in to this....Then I guess just sticking with  the stage piano side of it does anybody have any recommendations?  I'm most interested in quality of sound and authentic weighted feel...  I'm looking in to the Korg sv-1.  Does anybody have any experience with this one?

SV-1 is quite good but if you want the feel and touch as close as possible to a real piano
I'd suggest to go with RD700GX or NX or maybe kawai MP10 all around $2k. professional stage pianos.
