Chopin Ballade or Rachmaninoff Variations

Could you make a comparison between Chopin's 4th Ballade and Rachmaninoff Corelli Variations Op.42 the main point being technical & musical difficulties between them and what do you consider being more hard. I know there is a huge difference between these two pieces but at least someone who played both should be able to reply.
