LASS strings says to use CC83 to control glissandos
on: May 01, 2012, 09:23:14 PM
LASS strings says to use CC83 to control glissandos. How do I set that on my Kawai MP6 it also says in manual
CC1 controls the dynamic layers of the patch (ppp through fff) and also the volume of those layers.
CC7 controls the master volume of the patch.
CC11 adds one more level of volume control for added flexibility.
CC110 (default) allows you to choose the various A.M.G. (anti machine gun) modes in real-time.
CC111 (default) allows you to turn on/off the legato modes in real-time.
CC83 controls the speed of the portamentos and glissandos in real-time on “Speed” patches.
CC64 (Sustain Pedal) forces whatever you play to be played “legato
I'm not familiar with what exactly CC is. Does anyone know exactly what they mean by that, Do I need to set up something in my Kawai MP6
Any help would be great. I'm lost here.

CC is a Continuous Controller. Basically these are just generic controls that hold a value between 0-127 which can be used for whatever the instrument needs. Pretty much any MIDI control except for the keys themselves work with continuous controllers. Like when you press down or let up on the damper pedal, it sends values to CC64 which the instrument or software can use to sustain notes (or something else, if appropriate). You should look in the MP6 manual to see whether some physical controls like faders could be assigned to different CC#.
