Rep ideas for a student of mine...
on: May 04, 2012, 12:12:01 PM
I'm currently teaching a 70 yr old surgeon with deforming arthritis which prohibits hand span for full chords octave-range. He's Intermediate+ and currently working on a couple WTC Bk1 P&F and the Sibelius Romance, among other works such as some Mendelssohn boat songs and others in that general lvl.
I'm curious what rep our community would recommend for him....
Solo rep?
1 piano 4 hand?
2 piano 4 hand?
Others?
He's committed to improving so suggestions +/- his lvl are greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Josh

take a look at some of the variations in the borodin piano variations on chopsticks, i'm sure amongs the 24 paraphrases there is something he could handle. some are going to be beyong his ability or physica capability but some of the more delightful ones will certainly be in his reach. he could even switch to a primo part on those variations he can't pull off then come back go the secundo when it's his turn again iin performance if you all want to try that too...
