From one of my end of semester assignment performances. From the Kingdom Hearts Piano Collections (Volume I).
This work has some interesting influences, while studying it I found myself feeling like I was going back and fourth between a late romantic style and modern pop piano form of writing, then in the 2nd theme a sort of Eric Satie Gymnopedie-esque feel with an improvisational flavor in the closing moments; but always it felt so sentimental like it was remembering a simpler, sweeter time...
So it isn't high art music, but I think it's pretty, and fun, I learned from it and my playing improved as a result of spending time with it, so at the end of the day sometimes that's enough, give the audience something nice they maybe haven't heard before, something they can hum to themselves later, 'have me a good time' while doing it and entertain. That's how I approached this and that's what I at least hope folks in the audience and you all get from it too.
