From one of my end of semester assignment performances.  From the Kingdom Hearts Piano Collections (Volume I).

This work has some interesting influences, while studying it I found myself feeling like I was going back and fourth between a late romantic style and modern pop piano form of writing, then in the 2nd theme a sort of Eric Satie Gymnopedie-esque feel with an improvisational flavor in the closing moments; but always it felt so sentimental like it was remembering a simpler, sweeter time...

So it isn't high art music, but I think it's pretty, and fun, I learned from it and my playing improved as a result of spending time with it, so at the end of the day sometimes that's enough, give the audience something nice they maybe haven't heard before, something they can hum to themselves later, 'have me a good time' while doing it and entertain. That's how I approached this and that's what I at least hope folks in the audience and you all get from it too.

I'm not familiar with this kind of music (that video games have such refined soundtracks is also a novelty for me): so first of all I have to thank you for this pleasant discover.

Perhaps it's not 'high art' (but the boundaries are so subtle, and to some extent arbitrary). The important thing is that the piece is absolutely lovely, a true pleasure to listen. And your interpretation is GREAT: you feel deeply the music, and are able to involve and to engross your listeners.  And you captured  the ultra-romantic mood of the piece without overdoing, with a consummate measure, good taste, and musical sensibility. I like very much your style, and your playing in general.
Thank you so much for sharing, and of course BRAVO!!!!!  :) :) :) :) :)

@ pianoutube-it is i who should thank you for taking time to watch and listen. so nice of you to weigh in and  comment. sincerest gratitude from me to you over here :)

@ costiciana -Grazie mille!

these were just side projects i worked on my own alongside actual standard repertoire assignments if and when we finish study on something and perform or present at a masterclass if there are still some lessons left before the next performance opportunity i'll bring in a couple of these 'self worked' works for additional consultation and refinement then play them as sort of 'bonus' or 'extra' pieces to finish out the term (i try to participate in as many public performance situations as possible since really there is no mimicking or artifically setting those conditions up on our own performance is the best form of practice i believe),

i was just ready for a little 'palate cleanser' after such a Beethoven intense semester with the variations and the final frantic push to quickly pick up the Moszkowski transcription.

thanks for letting me share, i have a couple more in the genre on the sidelines that are much more 'concert - style' or flashy works'in style (though most definately way different from each other ) i hope to record some time mid-Fall 2012...

thanks very much Drexo! I have been working hard this semester with using a variety of touch/finger shape to get different tone qualities, i.e.flat finger vs curled, etc. i tried to employ different things to the " question and answer "/"statement and response" sections where different voices seemingly 'talk to each other' those upper  replies i imagined them feminne so a softer touch was used there. i'm glad someone noticed! :D

This was wonderful. Certainly one of my favorite interprepretations of this piece. As others said above you have great dynamic control over sections of the piece and really put a lot of effort into it. Do you have this on youtube so I can favorite it? If not I can always come back here to watch  :D

i have been needing to get the privacy controls off some of my videos, originally i intended them only for ps but i have had some great feedback on it i may tag it with some key words and let the comments and ratings loose on it, i can deal with any haters on a comment by comment basis if it gets too ugly.

really thanks for the vote of confidence, i listen to the official recordings all the time and though i attempted to stay true to work i tried to bring my own voice to it and 'say something new' i suppose. there are lots of good and LOTS OF OLOTS of not so good iterations of these pieces, i am tryng to systematically one by one put my best effort out on them. thanks again i will adjust the settings and pm you to let you know when they're ready for favs, likes, etc.

 :D

edit: it's public now  :o

That was an interesting piece, Enrique, and a fine performance.  Like you say, it has combinations of the modern and the classical, sort of New Age mixed with some Debussy and Satie.  For me, it painted a reflective mood, introspective most of the time except just after 1:40 when it took off with a lovely flourish.  You have a beautiful touch and what I really like about you is that you explore and perform various genres so you have a very diverse repertoire.  Your music is always interesting and unique.

thanks! i am absolutely in love with these piece, i'm glad that is coming through and that you caught EXACTLY what the pieces is about, it's rememberance, missing love,  a sweet but sad memory at the same time, bittersweet i think is the right flavor i suppose.
