After about 1 year of listening to different classical music (including atonal). Is this normal?? How do I get my taste for rock/dubstep music back? I just can't seem to appreciate other types of music, they sound like kindergarten songs to me now...ANybody have similar experiences, or is it just me?

I would suggest you find yourself some lesser known artists in different genres that play actual music.

I personally was a big fan of a lot of mainstream rock/punk music in highschool. Now I'd listen to something like the dave mathews band, bella fleck and the flecktones.. jaga jazzist..  for music outside the classical realm.

^this is victor wooten, he plays with bella fleck, and occasionally dave mathews..  obviously my tastes may not match yours..

I have also found that recently I do not care to listen to other genres of music, I still like it, but I just enjoy listening and learning about new piano music so much that it takes all my time. I have an enourmous collection of jazz, house, jazz funk and soul music that I haven't really touched for over a year now. Even if my taste in classical music is rather narrow (basically if there's no piano, then it's not for me) there's still plenty that I don't know yet and so many composers to learn about... But it doesn't really matter, probably at some point my focus will change again.

Haha, same thing happened to me, only in reverse!

Just listen to/play what you love. If that happens to be classical, listen to/play classical. There's no point in trying to force yourself to love something just because you did before, that sucks the fun out of music.
