Pieces for the Right Hand Only
on: May 13, 2012, 07:28:18 PM
Hi all,

Have sadly ended up with tendonitis in my left arm and have been instructed not to use it for about 6 weeks. Naturally the thought of spending so long away form the piano kills me so I am just wondering if anyone knows of any decent pieces for the right hand alone?

Thanks for all suggestions!

Alkan Op 76-1
The masterpiece tell the performer what to do, and not the performer telling the piece what it should be like, or the cocomposer what he ought to have composed.

A good way to give yourself tendonitis in the right arm too.

I have a bad case of DeQuervain's tendinitis in my thumb, which spread into the tendon of my index finger.

You might try what I'm doing:  taking music which has been written for two hands, and re-writing it for your right hand.

Or, take music which has been written for the violin, viola or cello and transcribe it for the right-hand alone.   (If you transcribe viola music, your alto clef reading ability will improve dramatically!)

Since it's going to be about six months before I have my left hand back, this gives me all sorts of opportunities to create a body of literature!
