Rzewski's De Profundis ?

Hi,
I listened to Rzewski's De Profundis for talking pianist , and its kind weird   , the sentences from Oscar Wilde messages and the whistling are understandable , but the part that the pianist act like an idiot or like an animal (4:30 , 8:10 , 23:15) !! what is that , what that does (or should) mean ? I dont understand .Otherwise its a pleasant work

It's a funny reaction to the code of behavior at concerts. During a piano recital, the pianist is not expected to make any sounds other than those created by pressing the keys. This piece is an attempt to give the performer a chance to become "human" again, and he/she gets the chance to speak, sing, scream, whistle, hum, sneeze, hiccup, grunt, laugh and cry; anything a normal human being would like to do sometimes in such an unnatural evironment. There's really nothing more behind it. Hope that helps.

Yes indeed , but he can use them in an artistic or beautiful shape .
I think there is something behind it , cz Rzewski pieces are mostly build up mathematikly (?) so i think everything have a meaning

Well, there may be mathematics and hidden codes present within the musical content itself (as is the case with the music of J.S. Bach), but I haven't got a clue...
