What does this symbol mean and how do I play it?
on: May 19, 2012, 06:46:37 AM
Hi Piano Street! I have been teaching myself to play piano for two years. I have become familiar with most notation symbols and their meaning. However, while learning a new piece today, I came across something I was not familiar with.
Symbol is circled in red.
I have been treating the symbol like a slur, but due to the very straight characteristic of the line, I thought that maybe it means something else. Thanks for any information!

That's an indication of where this particular voice goes. It's often used when a voice changes between the staffs and/or the hands.
