Franz Liszt - Un sospiro
on: May 23, 2012, 11:14:20 AM
Hi, so im about to post  my first recording here. It is a concert etude from Liszt - Un sospiro. I played it as a part of my recital program last week. Of course it still has weaker spots. It was only my second public performance with this piece. I appreciate every comment :)

Nice playing.
One practical question: How do you play the cuasi cadenza (con forza) octave trill in bar 29? Unfortunately, that's one of those places you'd better not spoil for good effect. If often see people trying to do it in right-hand octaves only, but it's far more exciting (and I have one version of the piece that explicitly tells you to do that) to take the basic trill (c-b-c-b-c-b-c-b-c-b-c-eflat-dflat) with both hands and after the semiquaver rest take the c octave with the right hand so you can prepare your left hand to continue.

Yes, i play it only with the right hand. I used to play it with separate hands, but my teacher didnt allow me to (but she CAN play the trill really good with one hand).

Well, the trill itself is OK. It's just that you put so much mental energy into it that you actually forgot how to plan the culmination (TA-DAM!) technically. Did I hear that correctly?
