Ravel's La Valse Help?
on: May 25, 2012, 06:28:08 PM
Hello, I am working on Ravel's La Valse for solo piano and I'm playing it in a competition in about a month. I think it's a great piece, and I'm still in love with it ever since I started it about a year ago. I was wondering if anyone has any practice tips on it because I'm getting to the point where I'm not sure of how I am supposed to be practicing it right now. Any tips bringing out the various timbres to make the piano sound orchestral would be nice. Also, if y'all have any tips on performing the piece effectively, they would be greatly appreciated. If you have the score handy, my teacher and I believe there is a misprint on pg. 15, measure 465 beat 3. We believe the RH notes should be B flat and G flat instead of B flat G natural. Tell me what you think. Really, just any tips on the piece would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much!
