quick question, i see this ALL OVER THE PLACE ON YOUTUBE, what is "piano cover" , i mean i'd say half of the piano videos have thsi and i can't figure it out to save the life of me.

will comment on the playing later, i need to sit down and watch it, but the question was eating a hole in my trying to get it. there. it's out.

edit. quite good man. the playing that is. i don't care for the 'sound as much' not a reflection of you or your playing per say but there's a strange 'boomy echo-ness' sound? i don't know like an artificial 'hall' sound , not sure if its the recording or something your instrument did but it sort of rubbed me the wrong way. i liked the piece and your performance of it though. my beef was more with that effect my ear was picking up.

When people other than the original artists sing (and/or record) a song it's called a cover. Doesn't make any sense when it comes to performing piano pieces imo.

"In popular music, a cover version or cover song, or simply cover, is a new performance or recording of a contemporary or previously recorded, commercially released song or popular song. It can sometimes have a pejorative meaning implying that the original recording should be regarded as the definitive or "authentic" version, and all others merely lesser competitors, alternatives or tributes (no matter how popular)"

cover stands more for popular songs indeed, here I am more thinking about a "paraphrase" if we want the good wording. otherwise the "hall" effect is on the piano (gives some reverb), after all, aren't we playing in the hall of the mountain king:)...

You performed this admirably -overdid the reverb sadly -but I liked this paraphrase more than the original.  Great arpeggios!

btw, is this a Clavinova?  I can almost swear that it has a concert room
effect or big hall effect despite being recorded in a small room.

This is a Clavinova clp 408, as you noticed, it has the hall effect. This instrument is pretty cool as it has a wooden keyboard (gives a good playing feeling) and a nice sound compared to my previous clavinovas.
