I have recently acquired my Great Grandmother's piano. It is a Bush and Gerts Made in Chicago
 # 54572. Does anyone know the age of this piano? Any information would be appreciated.

It should have been made in 1914.

The free online blue book puts it pre 1915 and way post 1905, with 1905 runnng in the serial number 33000 range and 1915 55000. So 1914 sounds logical (as has been mentioned).
Depressing the pedal on an out of tune acoustic piano and playing does not result in tonal color control or add interest, it's called obnoxious.
