So a little while ago I was going through some of my grandmothers music and stumbled upon one of those "piano classics" compilations, and have been meaning to share this photo since.

Spot the problem.

The shadows are quite literally shadows - As my phone (the camera) was between the light and the cd cover. The double shadow created because there is also a flash, that didnt hit the entire cover because the iphone cam is really not designed for a zoomed close up like this.

Maybe you were joking? What would I gain by photoshopping a cd cover to post on a web forum? doesnt that completely remove the humour of the situation since it wouldnt have been a genuine error.

Actually, as someone who never "learnt' it, is not a teacher, so hasn't suffered through teaching it countless times, and a non kiddie-concert goer, I have only ever played or heard it occassionaly.  I'm thus pretty much not of the "OMG I NEVER want to hear that again" school.  Once a decade or so is fine.

Be prepared to encounter these regularly. What most people don't realize is that in the entertainment industry, CGI and photoshop retouches are made to "feel" real. I remember a film using CGI and using realistic parameters for ray tracing. They altered the values at one point to unrealistic parameters because the ray tracing doesn't "feel" real.

Thus, in the internet, you will catch a lot of people labeling a real photo or a real video as fake.

  I recommend that you employ a digital artist to photoshop your real photo, so that it will look real to most people. Oh, the irony of life.

I think I mistakenly assumed that no one would ever bother deliberately looking for a photo or video to alter in order to impress users on a web forum, whom they've never met.   

...Maybe people really do feel the desperate need to up their pianostreet-cred.

That bit about the coconuts was a good laugh.

..It strikes me as odd that the photo is "obviously" photo-shopped. Since it actually isnt, then its not possible for the adjusments (or lack there of) to be obvious. AND, an expert on such matters would likely be able to tell that it hasnt been touched. So, I gather that the poster is not an expert on such things and therefore couldnt possibly be sure that the photo is or isnt edited - thus, querying the authenticity may have been reasonable..   suggesting that its "obviously" photoshopped is a little amusing.

Aren't all photos just routinely photoshopped these days. The only one of me that isn't is on my license, and you can really spot the difference.

I was just kidding, I thought the real problem was obvious haha (and it's also quite common that people on the internet cry out that stuff like this is photoshopped). Who the hell would write that Fur Elise is in G major?

I recently attended a children's piano/vocal recital.  One girl was listed in the program as playing "Rondo in G" by Mozart.  Can you imagine how surprised I was when she began play rondo alla turca from Mozart's a major sonata?

The teacher definitely must have compiled the program on her own, but she did not present each student verbally or correct the mistake before the performance.  I know the teacher personally -- I must say she has such a marvelous alto voice, but I'm not sure what to think of her piano teaching.  Especially after this.
