Which bit of Bach is this?
on: May 31, 2012, 04:37:30 AM
Here's a video of a kid playing a piece by Bach:

&feature=related

I know this piece, but cannot for the life of me remember what it is. Part of one of the suites perhaps? It looks like I may be able to master it, but I'll first have to work out what it is, and the person who uploaded the video doesn't say.

Anyone in the know?

Thanks! At what level is it? Reasonably intermediate? Bach can often be vastly more difficult than it sounds.

Yeah, this menuet is not very difficult, I would say it is on the level of two-part inventions.

I am sure you will also like the menuet from the french suite no 3. It starts at 4:20.

Hehe, I am learning the piece at the moment. Or relearning it: I could play it years ago. I have been away from the piano for a long time, and trying to pick it up again, but this time round I want to take a somewhat different approach, mainly to stick to pieces I can master given the limited time I have for practice, instead of frustrating myself by overstretching myself. Thus I am now on the lookout for quality music at around grade four or five level. One can never go wrong with Bach: his work, even the simpler pieces, remain evergreen no matter how many times you play them.

Thanks for the information!

I am in your position :). I started playing piano 1.5 years ago after non-playing for 9 years. And when I think about piano, I think about Bach.
