I want to record myself directly through the Kawai digital piano.  I heard the Zoom H4n digiral audio recorder is the best for this.  Any suggestions or recommendations?

If you are recording a direct line out from your DP, almost any recorder that captures a minimum 44.1 khz / 16 bit will do.  You could even plug your DP directly to your computer if it has a line in.

The H4n has combination XLR and 1/4" TRS inputs, so it will give you a lot of flexibility to what you plug in.   Of course it has its internal mics that you can use to capture sound as well.  But as you are using a digital piano using a direct line input is probably a better route.  You can use the internal mics when you play on an acoustic piano.

I've got an H4n and use it when I need a small portable recorder.  You can search the Audition room if you want to hear samples of it's internal mics.  I've also done comparison recordings between the H4n and other mics.
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach
