So, who do you think are the BEST (or most renowned or most famous or most talented or produces the best students) pedagogues/piano teachers of our time?

Judging from the topics in other sections of the board, people already have trouble determining who the best "students" are at the moment, and now the teachers are under fire? ;D

A really good teacher is hard to find these days. I'm also convinced that the best ones may very well choose to remain anonymous. A teacher who has a lot of clout on the scene is not always the best one in all cases. He/she has a choice of "the best", but that doesn't say anything about how they are capable of working with problematic cases. What do you think?

I think what mister Huff is saying is who are the best students Right Now (21st Century)!  Just as much a dearth in these.   It's all about a magic combination.

Bump. Sorry.

OK, I'll just give you one name. A really good teacher, especially, for technique (not just mechanics), is Jacques de Tiege (Belgium), a student of Leon Fleisher (if I'm not mistaken). I haven't heard much of him lately but he used to teach at Antwerp and Tilburg conservatories. Quite a few of his students have won prizes on the prestigious Elisabeth competition. One of his students is (she teaches now herself in Antwerp) Eliane Rodrigues. What I find so good about him is that he finds ways to exempt people from exams and useless subjects (even at the conservatory) until they are really ready, and if he thinks they are ready, they are already far beyond the competition.

On his website, he has included a list of his impressive students.
Beethoven - Sonata in C sharp minor, Op 27 No 12
Chopin - Fantasie Impromptu, Nocturn in C sharp minor, Op post
