HJ Lim Beethoven Sonatas
on: June 21, 2012, 12:26:53 PM
Recently, the young Korean pianist Hyun-Jung (HJ) Lim released a full album of Beethoven Sonatas in her early twenties.  Her aim, after delving into Beethoven's past through research and reading of letters, was to express the "young" Beethoven, before his deafness and seriousness.  Do you think she accomplished this goal?  What are your thoughts on her playing style?

I haven't heard them. I would add, tough, that since a number of them were written by an older, deafer and grumpier Beethoven, capturing his youthful style seems inappropriate.
