Age and Value of a Piano marked N. Wesber Berlin
on: July 01, 2012, 12:44:16 PM
Hi, I would like to ascertain the approximate age and value of this upright piano, which has been in the family for 3 generations. I live in Italy, but - as far as I know - the piano has been bought in Germany, but I don't know if it was bought new.
The mark on the front says "N. Wesber - Berlin". On the left side, internally - where the soundboard is located, there is a small metal plate which says "Matricola D.C. FIP (or FP) 652". I guess it is a serial number?
A few more numbers have been engraved right below the metal plate, directly in the wood: 2842.
It has three pedals and an ivory keyboard, I don't think any part has ever been replaced. I don't have any more information unfortunately, apart that it looks like we currently have a wood worm problem and do not know how to get rid of it!
Can anyone help me? It would be highly appreciated. Thanks!
