Just written and recorded a piano concerto
on: July 02, 2012, 06:33:12 PM
Hi everyone,

I've just finished writing and recording a three movement piano concerto. The whole project took about three months to complete, and I recorded all the instrument parts on my Roland HP207 Digital piano. This is the first major piece I've composed; I'm primarily an electric guitarist but I've taken a few years off to learn about piano playing and composition. Rachmaninoff was a major influence to my writing. I'm self-taught, and I know it isn't perfect, but hopefully some of you will like it. Please listen at

Thanks for your time

Very impressive! I just listened to the 1st movement so far, but I'm already humming the theme to myself. I appreciate how much effort you put into composing this, I will listen to the other two movements later.

Huge props to you! That's not nothing O.O
The piano part is very interesting! When you'll have this recorded by an orchestra it's going to be insane!! Congratulations!

I bet you could get an orchestra to play that easily, especially since you can play the piano part, so they won't have to work to find a soloist to learn it. I haven't listened to it all the way through yet, but it's great! Let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the comments!
I'd love more than anything to have an orchestra perform this with me, from what I've been able to find out it can be quite costly and difficult to get to that stage. I'd have to score the parts properly too because they're all written in my strange personal short-hand haha

Brilliant! It sounds like a mix of early Scriabin and Debussy.
Much enjoyed it.Good job!

Poems of Ecstasy – Scriabin’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

The great early 20th-century composer Alexander Scriabin left us 74 published opuses, and several unpublished manuscripts, mainly from his teenage years – when he would never go to bed without first putting a copy of Chopin’s music under his pillow. All of these scores (220 pieces in total) can now be found on Piano Street’s Scriabin page. Read more
