Rachmaninoff's 4 Pieces
on: July 07, 2012, 03:02:23 AM
I have been enjoying Alessio Bax's recordings of Rachmaninoff Preludes and Pieces.  I thought I owned everything ever written by Rachmaninoff, but I have been unable to locate his "4 Pieces," of which Alessio plays two of the four on his album.

I was able to download them from IMSP, but I prefer hard copies. I wondered if anyone knew where I could find them published?

Makes me wonder what else in the Rachmaninoff catalog I am missing...and how Alessio Bax found them!

Thanks, everyone.
Michael

If there's a recording that I can't find, I just go on YouTube and download the videos.

It's really nice to know that there's another Rachmaninoff fanatic like me out there! ;D

I found this on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Rachmaninov-Morceaux-salon-Nocturnes-Pieces/dp/B00000J8DE

...the single review it has doesn't seem very positive though, haha.

I'm sure if you googled around some more you could find something.

I think he's asking about the sheet music, not recordings. Is that right?

I found them!  Well, actually I posted a similar thread on a different piano website and one of their members found it for me at SheetMusic.com.  Which is completely mystifying, since I had spent forever going through pages and pages of Rachmaninoff titles.

For anyone interested, the book is called Early Piano Works Nine Pieces With Critical Commentary Composer Sergei Rachmaninoff.

Thank you!
Michael

What exactly do you mean by that? As in, why do you think it's crappy? Just so I'll know o_o

I haven't used that website in over a year, have had one to many problems with their service. I have been using this website ever since and haven't looked back.  Link

I have enjoyed great service from SheetMusic.com...no complaints from me.

Poems of Ecstasy – Scriabin’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

The great early 20th-century composer Alexander Scriabin left us 74 published opuses, and several unpublished manuscripts, mainly from his teenage years – when he would never go to bed without first putting a copy of Chopin’s music under his pillow. All of these scores (220 pieces in total) can now be found on Piano Street’s Scriabin page. Read more
