The Quiet Revolutionary of the Piano – Fauré’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

In the pantheon of French music, Gabriel Fauré (1845–1924) often seems a paradox—an innovator cloaked in restraint, a Romantic by birth who shaped the contours of modern French music with quiet insistence. Piano Street now provides sheet music for his complete piano works: a body of music that resists spectacle, even as it brims with invention and brilliance. Read more

Instructional DVDs on playing Chopin

To those who understand Chinese I can recommend the following product available from Amazon.

https://www.amazon.cn/%E6%80%8E%E6%A0%B7%E5%BC%B9%E5%A5%BD%E8%82%96%E9%82%A6%E9%92%A2%E7%90%B4%E4%BD%9C%E5%93%81/dp/B003LPU2M2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1341857208&sr=8-1

It's 2 DVDs retailing at less than 8 USD featuring a famous Chinese pianist demonstrating how to play famous pieces by Chopin.   The complete performance of each piece is preceded by a detailed commentary by the pianist on the history of the piece, the common pitfalls and demonstration of isolated passages.

Why is there no market for such products in the West?  Perhaps one should not be surprised by the rise of Chinese pianists.

Pieces featured are: Andante spianato et grande polonaise brillante, Op22; Waltz, Op62, No2; Ballade Op23; Mazurka, Op50, No3; Nocturne, Op27, No2; Etude, Op10, No12; Scherzo, Op31 and Polonaise, Op53.

Here's a taster: he is playing Liszt's Liebestraume No 3 in another set of instructional videos:

I'd also add that Americans should beware if they do not want to be taken over by the Chinese at the piano scene.

Should the other great piano playing nation, Russia, be careful too?  I must say I'm rather disappointed that they have not produced anything like that there, despite the fact that the Chinese do not respect intellectual property rights any more than they do.  In fact, the music publishing industry in Russia is pretty much dead.  However, I have too much respect for the Russians to think that they will ever be taken over by the Chinese in my lifetime.  The Russians are truly amazing; it is incredible that despite all the poor resources and the rampant corruption they still manage to produce so many world-class pianists.

Why is there no market?

Pianists who study piano at music school like Curtis, Julliard, or Royal college of music, don't need it and can figure it out themselves.

Also, most people rather take private 1-1 piano lessons to learn virtuoso classical music.

I tried offering my instructionals, but I figured people are smart enough to figure this stuff out themselves.

Perfection itself is imperfection.

I am not suggesting that these products are necessarily aimed at the best of the best music students.  Also, applying the logic of your argument, one would not expect to see anyone from the West asking questions on Piano Street.  The point is there are a lot more instructional materials in book form than in videos.
