2 Scarlatti sonatas needed! Please help me!
on: July 11, 2012, 06:25:03 PM
I am required to do 2 sonatas of Scarlatti and I really do not know much about him or his pieces.  Please help me pick 2 songs with different moods and styles, I'm think one slower and one of medium/faster tempo.  Also, if the slow one would have a minorish/sad feel to hit and the other a bit more up beat.  I can't thank you enough for helping me!

Sincerely ,
Anne

The only Scarlatti sonata I know is Sonata in D Minor K. 9; L. 413 "Pastorale." The speed is kind of moderate, but the tempo marking is allegro.

Sorry I only know of one, but you can try looking up more on youtube! You might be inspired by some of the performances and find a piece you really like.

Try the k.159 (graded as level 6) in c major. Medium- fast tempo, happy mood... you may want to check out irena koblar's version.. Very nice,, good luck, and best wishes!
