Hi everyone! I'm new and have some questions!
on: July 12, 2012, 01:53:55 AM
Hi everyone!

I'm new here, just got an account a few minutes ago but went ahead and posted replies on some threads. I just wanted to ask if there are any tacit rules around here? Anything I need to know?

Also, if you're a regular user, I would love it if you introduced yourself!

I will start:
Hi! I'm musicalpoet23. I am an amateur pianist, and I consider myself between intermediate and advanced. This is gonna surprise you though-- I have been playing for almost 3 years! I just love to improve :)

I await your replies! ^_^

Hello, I'm Rachmaninoff_ forever!

As for rules, there aren't really any written in stone.  As long as you don't troll or spam or anything in that nature.

But judging from your first post, I doubt we'll have any problems with that! :D

Hi,
I'd say this forum has the same rules as normal human communication.

Though since this IS a piano forum, I'd like to mention...

Be humble but not demotivated and overcritical of yourself, there are many pianists here and some of them will be better than you and some of them will be worse than you. Learn from both those worse than you and those better than you.

You will see many arguments here. Some of them nice simple debates and others with nothing but namecalling. If you get into one, just don't be overly stubborn and try not to call people names

Anyway, I've been playing 11 years now and currently I'm preparing for college auditions. Current repertoire is:
Bach Prelude and Fugue in D minor from WTC1
Beethoven Pastorale Sonata Op. 28
Chopin Scherzo no. 1
Liszt La Leggerierezza
Ravel Alborada del Gracioso
and if I have time I'm thinking of picking up Rach 2.
Ravel Jeux D'eau
Brahms 118/2
Liszt Concerto 1
Rachmaninoff/Kreisler Liebesleid
