Triple pedal box for digital piano
on: July 12, 2012, 06:34:05 AM
Hi,

I have a digital piano ( Korg SP200 ) and I've started using it with Pianoteq's modeling software which seems quite good . But I'd like to connect a triple pedal box but the Korg only has one jackpoint for a damper pedal . Perhaps one with a MIDI out would be good. Maybe a Behringer FCB1010 foot controller , are they any good as piano pedals ?

If your Korg doesn't have more than the one switched pedal control connection, I doubt a triple pedal box will work.  On my keyboards, I have at least two switched control inputs and the sustain pedal input.

That's interesting about the Korg. My Yamaha has both a 1/4" for a simple sustain and a midi looking (uher) jack for their triple pedal box. Have you thought about what you will do with those other pedals?

Oxy, which Yamaha do you have?  I use an S90es which I like very much.  I'd be interested in a three pedal device if it would work with my Yamaha.

I have El Cheepo the P85. Look on the back of yours. In addition to the midi in-out there should be another stray jack that looks like another midi jack. That's the one for the pedals. This should be mentioned in the instruction book.

I don't know if using those pedals will affect midi recording.

Drat, my keyboard doesn't have the connection Oxy.  It has midi in,out, through, and the pedals all connect via 1/4" phone jacks.

How many of those 1/4" phone jacks do you have back there? Do you still have the instruction book? You can get a copy online from support. Yours may have capabilities of which you might be unaware. I'm always finding new stuff about mine.

Three switched controls and two voltage controls.  I've seen dual pedals that would work.  And I program the keyboard to respond to the pedals as needed for different situations.  It would be nice to have three in one so I don't quite so many things on the floor!

Well, that's our world. Too much stuff on the floor, too much reprogramming and often the possibility of hitting the wrong switch in the dark.
