Okay? What exactly are you trying to say? I've played it. I don't know if it's overplayed. I hadn't heard of it until I played it, then again, I wasn't really that interested in music at that point so that doesn't mean much.
I personally don't think its overplayed. It is a great piece of music IMO and I think it deserves its recognition. I just wish people performed some of his other, more obscure works a little more. The Toccata is the only solo piano piece of his that I ever really hear people play.
I played this piece as part of my audition into University (many moons ago)... a great piece and not as difficult as it sounds. The middle section is a rhythmic challenge because the left and right hands are often not on the levee..As far as being overplayed... I don't believe so. I've judged a few piano competitions and I've rarely heard it played. However, it's a crowd pleaser when it is played.I'd say go for it.
