Piano lessons on youtube
on: July 14, 2012, 06:10:44 PM
Hi
I'm making a series of piano lessons on youtube. It's for the very beginning now and I will make more advanced lessons as I progress with this project. I would appreciate comments, both positive and negative so I can improve in the next lessons I film.
Thanks!

Hi ariel12345, everything is going great so far, and good video quality. The only thing that I would say is that maybe you should expand your teaching. What I mean is that maybe you can do a tutorial (not a how to play, but tips) on more advanced pieces, like a Chopin Nocturne or even a piece from Schumann's Kinderszenen. A good example of a tutorial would be this:

You might also want to teach other things that are for more advanced piano students, not only beginners. For example, you might want to do a video on octave technique, or a video on how to get rid of tension in the hands. Good examples would be:

Good luck, I hope everything goes well  ;D ;D ;D.
Bach Prelude and Fugue BWV848
Beethoven Piano Sonata Op.13
Chopin Etude Op.10 No.4
Chopin Scherzo Op.31
Mussorgsky "The Great Gate of Kiev" from Pictures at an Exhibition

Thank you! Great tips also:)
This is just the beginning, I will add many more lessons to various levels and on many topics.
I'm glad it seems OK for now. I hope I get better in being more natural in the way of presentation, I feel it is stiff, I'm not that accustomed to talking to the camera!
Thank you:)

I was going to create piano lessons on YouTube...My question is "What do you want to know?"

I can easily do tutorials on scales, octaves, technique, tutorials of pieces, etc. If no one is paying attention to it, then it becomes pointless.
Perfection itself is imperfection.

Currently practicing
Albeniz Triana
Scriabin Fantaisie Op28
Scriabin All Etudes Op8

Hi Danhuyle
Thank you for your reply. I want to know what is the general impression of these few first lessons, is it going to motivate people to return and continue with other lessons or to leave it. There are some very popular piano teachers on youtube, what is their secret?
Thank you:)

Josh Wright is hard to find on youtube, because all the titles of his teaching videos start with "Josh Wright Piano TV", and I don't think most people who are unfamiliar with Josh Wright are going to type that. Also, overall, Paul Barton's videos consists of way more videos of him playing a piece of music wonderfully than him showing people how to practice a piece.
