Mozart Sonata ASAP!!!
on: July 20, 2012, 06:53:01 PM
Hello

I'll be starting my first year of university training in about a month. My teacher just told me she expects the first movement of a Mozart sonata to be ready when I get down there. Do you have any suggestions? I'm a quick learner and I want something that is challenging but not impossible to learn in a month. Thanks a lot!

Some good ones that come to my mind would be:

-K.300h
-K.284c
-K.576

or

-K.300d
-K.457
(if you're more into some 'dark' Mozart ;) )

Finally, maybe it's a bit too much for a month, but then again you said you're a quick learner, so you could also consider doing K.300i, those variations are some of the best he ever wrote, IMHO :)

Best,
And good luck!

this was my first mozart piano sonata for my first uni semester. you should be able to manage this in short order if you really focus on it i don't see a problem with getting most of it down in about a month
Mozart- Piano Sonata in F major, K. 280- 1st mov. Allegro assai

the rest of it is pure fun. super beautiful slow 2nd mvnt and a playful and lively close w the 3rd

Is this your first attempt at a sonata by Mozart?  If so, perhaps K.309 in C major, K.332 in F major or K.333 in Bb major?  I am not suggesting these are "easy" ones, but I think they are forward-looking and optimistic...  especially you are starting a course at Uni.

Best of Luck in your next stage of studies.

Poems of Ecstasy – Scriabin’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

The great early 20th-century composer Alexander Scriabin left us 74 published opuses, and several unpublished manuscripts, mainly from his teenage years – when he would never go to bed without first putting a copy of Chopin’s music under his pillow. All of these scores (220 pieces in total) can now be found on Piano Street’s Scriabin page. Read more
