Repertoire for next year
on: July 25, 2012, 01:23:56 PM
Hello,

On next May, I am going to play the next 2 pieces:

- Claire de Lune - Debussy
- Prelude C# minor - Rachmaninov

I already played the whole the Claire de Lune by sight-reading as well as reading the score, now I only need to memorize it and give it the right flow and tempo.

In the case of the Prelude, I have started this week. Until now, I have only read the first part, the Lento, and played only the first 6 bars because the shift of chords is difficult for me.

Can you give me some tips to improve the pieces?, also I don't mind some small history lessons to understand them more.

Note: Speed is not my strength, but due to the experience of playing Chopin's "Minute Waltz", I understood that the most important thing is to play evenly.

I recommend going to Youtube and finding recordings of those pieces by famous pianists. By the time you browse through all the good recordings, you will feel like you "know" the pieces much better. Or you can put them on an MP3 player and listen to them on repeat alllll day.
