The Quiet Revolutionary of the Piano – Fauré’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

In the pantheon of French music, Gabriel Fauré (1845–1924) often seems a paradox—an innovator cloaked in restraint, a Romantic by birth who shaped the contours of modern French music with quiet insistence. Damper problems

The middle two and a half octaves are ringing to much. Can I bend the damper wires a couple of centimeters to get more pressure? This is on an upright studio Baldwin.

The dampers are probably tamped down ( the felt has compacted). It can be softened with a pick. They should also be adjustable and the felt certainly replaceable. The fact that it's in the middle register confirms my thoughts, it's where it's been played most..

If you bend the wires you are on your own, you didn't get the idea from me. Not saying it won't work, but it's not the fix you are dreaming of !

Depressing the pedal on an out of tune acoustic piano and playing does not result in tonal color control or add interest, it's called obnoxious.
