Playing piano reductions/transcriptions of orchestral scores
on: August 12, 2012, 07:49:00 AM
Hi everyone!
What's your advice on playing piano reductions of orchestral scores? I'm going to accompany a choir on Mozart K47 "Veni Sancte Spiritus," but the music I have doesn't leave out a single texture or voice from the original orchestral score. The result is a piano part that is so thickly textured that it is too difficult to play and also sounds bad.
Am I "allowed" to edit the music/leave out textures to make it more playable and pianistic? How should I do this?
Thanks, Joe.
