Czerny 740, exercise 50 vs Chopin black key etude
on: August 23, 2012, 02:41:36 AM
Hi
I am wondering whether Czerny 740, exercise 50 is more technically demanding than
the Chopin black key etude.
Years ago I learnt the black key with a teacher.
Now I am a self learner and want to try the last study of 740.
It appears to me that the one by Czerny is more difficult than black key, with more stretches, change of positions of the right hand and a more violent atmosphere.
Is my speculation correct?

Hi,
I'm glad you are looking at the Op. 740. They are great pieces! They are not just fast finger pieces. Makes sure you use a relaxed arm and supple wrist as you play. I find this piece more 'dark' than violent. Enjoy!
