The oldest piece we have a complete "score" of is the Seikilos Epitaph from around the first century (or possibly a bit earlier). We have fragments of the Delphic Hymns from around 140 BCE.

The earliest reference to music is the song of deliverance sung by Moses and Co after crossing the Red Sea (Exodus 15).

The earliest found musical instruments date back to 30-40,000 years ago.
