Discrepancies in Mozart score
on: September 04, 2012, 02:25:43 PM
I've been working on Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, and I was wondering if anyone could offer some insight.

First movement; In the left hand where one would expect a V7 pattern, my pinky is kept on the G, while the rest alternate the expected C and D. It seems to me that I should replace my G with an A. It just doesn't seem right; do I have a bad score? Is this just a gross mistake of the editor or is this right?
A wrong note played timidly is a wrong note. A wrong note played with authority is an interpretation.

You could check the full score to see what it says.

If you are referring to the sequence starting in bar 5, then a held G in the bass is correct.  The technical term for this is pedal point.
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach
