Chopin Fantaisie-Impromptu (NEW)
on: September 09, 2012, 05:33:49 AM
Hello Pianostreet,

Here is my post from 2 months ago playing this piece:

https://www.pianostreet.com/smf/index.php?topic=47017.msg511099#msg511099

Although it's been 2 months, I don't get to practice every day anymore, and not for very long, so I have only been able to put a little work into this. Based on responses from last time, I've worked on a few things:

1. Play with a lighter, quieter touch.
2. Tempo control, especially in descending passages
3. Double-check score to make sure the notes are all correct
4. Less pedal
5. Note values in B section
6. Slower and more relaxed, thoughtful B section
7. Memorize ending

Please listen to this latest recording and give feedback. I would really appreciate it. Please be honest, tell me what you think when listening. Obviously, some mess-ups, but I cannot make a perfect recording. On the very last chord, I DID play the correct notes. The reason it sounds funny is that I practice at home on my upright with the left pedal, but when I played it here on the grand, it shifted the hammers or something and tweaked the notes.  >:(  I knew that that happens on this piano, but practice habits took over in the moment.

Played on K Kawai grand. Thanks for listening!!!!

Sme freally marvelous finger work here -I think the Presto section didn't quite take off like it did in the earlier version -but overall there was more control and the ending was more refined -Bravo
When a search is in progress, something will be found.

Impressive, Fleet!  Your flying fingers leave me envious!  You have tremendous control in the fast passages and the middle section was tender.  Great job!
