I just have to ask. What piece or song is Balls of Fire ?
Depressing the pedal on an out of tune acoustic piano and playing does not result in tonal color control or add interest, it's called obnoxious.

Jerry Lee Lewis - Great Balls of Fire

It's based off of a boogie woogie base.. to play it the way Jerry Lee Lewis played it is not easy even for a pro.  But there's lots of versions that you could get your hands on that are probably pretty manageable.

To play a Pete Johnson style boogie woogie base takes a lot of practice before you can riff on your right hand.  But, it's not impossible. You'll get it over time.  You need to stay relaxed though.  It will tire you out pretty quick if you tense up too much.

Best of luck.

I was wondering if it might be that but then you would think the OP would have listed it as Great Balls Of fire. But what do I know ! I was never a fan of that song actually.

Ya, I think Jerry Lee wrote better songs than that one.  He's a helluva boogie woogie pianist though! They don't call him The Killer for nothing!
