Saint-Saëns/Liszt/Horowitz - Danse Macabre
on: September 13, 2012, 07:03:30 PM
Hi to everyone! Well, after a period of time in which I've been able to enjoy of my summer holidays, it's time to work again, so here you have one of my last BIG works
Here you have the Danse Macabre, a masterpiece composed by Camille Saint-Saëns for the orchestra, based on a poem from Henri Cazalis (so we can say that's a symphonic poem) The transcription was done by Liszt and this arrangement (harder than the Liszt's one, what isn't small xD) was done by the great Vladimir Horowitz
This masterpiece and the "Godowsky's Studies on Chopin's Études" are the hardest pieces I've ever played.
I hope you like it! I was a hard work! Haha!

Hi frankiisko,
Bravo!! Your performance of this transcription is outstanding! You handled all of the bravura passage work as if it were a walk in the park. Beneath your training and abilities is a great talent. You play with artistry.
Are you currently studying piano performance at a music school?

Thank you very much!
Well, in my country we haven't to choose between studying piano performance or pedagogy of the piano, so what I'm studying now is just "piano". But yes, when I go to the Superior conservatory I'd like to study piano performance
Thank you again!!

Wow -sounded as if you need at least 40 fingers to play this! You did exceptionally well with just 10! This is a Halloween piece deluxe!
I think the microphone you used was a bit overwhelmed on occasions though -it may be you need to either adjust the recording level -or find a better placement -The acoustics in the room was not ideal -
