on: September 16, 2012, 11:21:41 PM
have no idea what these things are. what did hal leonard publish and by whom? etudes for piano tchaikovsky did not write, right?

i can't find the hal leonard site index listing for these

https://www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/Concert-Etudes-For-Piano-tchaikovsky-Etudes/19811464

but if it's a mistake, these folks must have made the exact same mistake at the same time?

The Hal Leonard site listing is here:

https://www.halleonard.com/product/viewproduct.do?itemid=49019084&lid=0&keywords=ED21051&subsiteid=1&

Not that it's any help whatsoever!

The Tschaikovsky Piano Competition commissioned a concert etude from Rodion Shchedrin. Maybe they did this in previous years as well and this is a collection of those?

I've ordered a copy and will let you know what's inside in "2-5 weeks".

well yeah that should tell us, i was going to email them but honestly it's hit or miss with inquiries to customer service, 50 % useful 50 % rubbish....

will be very interested in what it is indeed! and yeah keep me/us posted as i may also order it/them if they turn out to be what you suggested it might or even if they're only 50% as interesting as that it may be worth it.

if it's a dud, you should not only recieve a full refund but a concession/courtesy towards a future purchase for their useless listing!

LOL. It's below my pain threshold and not worth the effort of extracting a refund whatever it turns out to be.
