Everyone on pianostreet; ASSEMBLE!!!
on: September 17, 2012, 01:43:37 AM
SO...  This is how it is...

I'm taking creative film in school, and I have a music video project.  I've decided that I'm going to use Ligeti etude No. 13 "The devil's staircase" for my music video.  So anyways, it's about this guy who's skating, and he throws himself down this giant staircase and he hits his head and dies.  So he wakes up in hell and he's trying to get out.  But every time he's about to get to the top of the staircase, the devil pops out and trolls him and throws him back into the abyss again.  But all of the sudden he wakes up and he realizes he's dreaming and he feels salty.

Any idea on how I should execute this?

In grainy black and white, at least for hell.

Are you planning on playing the etude yourself?

No.  My teacher said that we aren't allowed to be in the video.  I would've otherwise done La Campanella and made the video about a guy who's screwing around with a bunch of bells in is apartment and waking up the neighbors in the middle of night.

;D  Like the second idea much better -the first sounds a bit hopeless and depressing -I always think an idea works better when there is a problem which CAN be solved -if your nemesis is a super powered alien -you stand a chance in hell of beating it -

Well one of the challenges of the second one is that I have to get my hands on a bunch of bells.

I was also thinking of a guy who gets diagnosed with cancer, so he feels salty.  But after a while, he's like 'hey man, I gotta do work!  *** cancer!' and he changes his diet, started doing exercises etc, but he goes to the doctor a little while later and he finds out that his cancer is getting even worse.  So he feels salty for the rest of his life until he dies.  I was thinking of using Rachmaninoff prelude Op. 32 No. 10 for this.  I've had a couple other ideas with that prelude but I feel like those would be hard to execute as well because I can't find a girl to be one of the characters for me.

Well for continuity issues they have to be like in their early to mid 20s.  I wanna use my cousins girlfriend but I imagine that she's too busy.
